The tradition of a home temple or pooja mandir in Hinduism is centuries old and is deeply rooted in our culture. A mandir is not just a symbol of our gratitude towards the Lord, for we all know that without His grace and blessings, no task can can be easily or successfully accomplished. It is a testament of our unwavering faith and the conviction of our devotion.
We’re no experts, but from what we understand, as per Vaastu Shastra, it is believed that ideally the pooja mandir should be placed in the north east corner of your home, i.e. the deities should face the south west direction. Therefore, when you worship them, you will be facing the north east direction. The north, or east are also commonly considered appropriate directions for a placement of a home temple.
Both in worship and in the depictions of the divine, Hindus are known to be enamoured with flowers. The most revered being the Lotus. Therefore, Hindu mythology and culture is inundated with references, symbolisms, admiration and reverence for them, with the Lotus or Padma as the most popular amongst them all.
